Vineyards of Distinction
On a hill in the village of Lagopodo, overlooking the green plain, the Ionian Sea and almost the whole island, the Troussas-Dasis family cultivates and vinifies its wines. Dedication, tradition, and the love for Zakynthos Island are the components.
Their secret is the traditional “prorogos” or “royal vinification”, a method in which the wine is born from the first juice of the grape, pure and full, without any further processing or passing through the wine press. Using this technique there is no juice from pressure or the grape seed.
This rare technique has been passed down from generation to generation and today leads to the creation of an authentic space, the family’s winery, where one can discover some excellent varieties, such as Avgoustiatis, Pavlos as well as the ancient variety of Makripodia.

The Winery
Troussas-Dasis wines were born in 1879. The family’s ancestor Nikolas produced a few varieties for his family and close friends to enjoy.
Prorogos vinification had been the family’s signature as they are the only ones using it on the island. Chosen must coming from the original juice of the grapes, before entering to the pressing procedure or any further processing.
This exquisite wine is known as the best quality juice of grapes and is famous as the wine enjoyed only by royalty. And it is this royal quality that is brought to your glasses by the Troussas-Dasis winery.
Love for good wine and taste for local varieties have been passed on to the whole family, which has today created a traditional and authentic winery. A place where wine tasting, and traditional culinary experience comes together.

Our Wines
Among the vineyards, someone will find varieties for white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Pavlos and Makripodia. Merlot, Avgoustiatis and Mavroboubouko have been chosen for the production of the red wines.
The winery’s portfolio includes the labels Lardera, Valerozo and Evodia.
A unique dry white wine, Lardera, was planted in 2013 and flourished in the family’s village, Lagopodo. From white old varieties of the Lardera area’s vineyard, this Mediterranean microclimate was vinified through pre-fermentative cryoextraction. Fermented from a selection of native yeast flora in a chilled stainless tank, it arrives in your glass with a golden color.
Ideal for dry wine lovers, Valerozo comes from the variety of Avgoustiatis. Rich and red grapes meet prorogos vinification process. Their fine first juice had been led to age in French oak barrels, where it matures with tradition and love until it’s ready for your glass.
A mountain’s selection of red grapes, Evodia, comes from the traditional variety of Avgoustiatis. It was planted in 2010 and flourished at an altitude of 510 m in the Statia vineyard of the village Koiliomeno, in Zakynthos. The grapes of this semi sweet red wine are let naturally to sun-dry and ferment through the process of limited fermentation to produce the semi sweet Evodia. A traditional way of processing one of the most important red grape varieties of the vineyard. A wine so special, traditionally used in Holy Communion.
